Master plan of Riphah international university at Islamabad

Can a campus design be an expression of the institute’s values ?
Design of the master plan is very crucial as it not only decides the land use, circulation, services, infrastructure, future developments, but can also be the generator of the built form.
Our design responds to the views and the topography offered by this hillock site. Thus a main vehicular ring road is created at a lower level to access the various functions and to keep the large central area of the campus as pedestrian – safe, hassle free, noise and pollution free. Special attention has been given to create maximum interaction spaces. This central space has a special plaza flanked by a mosque, a library and café which becomes the activity hub.
Another idea is to make this campus as self sufficient as possible in terms of energy, water, food, building resources, climate response and so on.
A harmonious coexistence of the man made and the natural, control and freedom, measurable and immeasurable is attempted in this campus design.
